So hubby and i were wondering if anyone trims the trailers on their fish? I rarely see fish with long trailers anymore..

TK6 has some long (see pic) probably from the ZZ in him...

would you guys trim them down or leave them as it is?

I read somewhere that trimming their trailers will strengthen their finnage/tails..

I guess it wouldn't hurt the fish as long as you don't trm too close and touch the cartilidge..

Good luck on it..

I hate trailers that are too long that exceed the tail, the zz trait but its just IMO, ive turned to the kamfa side. I would trim them just cause i would get too annoyed with it.

I've wondered if anybody trimmed trailers...I personally wouldn't because the tip of the trailer on my TK is bright orange and my favorite of his traits.

You can trim them if you want. My kamfamalau had trimmed fins, and they grew back It's just a part of grooming your fish!

If that's my fish I would leave it. Look cool on the fish but if you still want to trim it then cut in an angle.

you can trim the soft part of the fin, but if you cut to deap into the hard bony part,
It will grow thin and you will see the scare. Only trip the tips. If the fins are growing
irregularly, i usually use a needle and peirce through between the hard boney parts.
Then let it heal. Usually the streamers will look nice again.

Tina...I wouldn't trim it because it will just grow back again. If you trim it and it doesn't come out right...it's very eye soaring. It happened to my TK when I trimmed the trailer...but now it grows back long and looking beautiful. I will not trim it again.

Yeap...mine has the exact same orange tip.

This is definitely a personal preference. Some people like long hair and some people like short hair. And some guys leave long long hair even though it's so damned ugly on them hehehe...

Trimming the trailers of your fish is not a one-time thing, if that's what you decide to do. If a fish has long trailers, it's part of their natural self. You cut the trailers today, they'll grow back in few weeks. Then it becomes a routine to trim his trailers if you don't want to see them long.

I usually leave my fishes to their natural selves.

I am not sure if it will hurt the fish but I would rather let the fish be the way it is. Trailers look nice IMO .. :)
