Well my son has been wanting a turtle for quite some time. I don't want no stinking turtles LOL, so I figured I'd let mom tell him no since she HATES the fish tanks. Well I should have known better, because she told him he could get one. Is it pretty much a sponge filter with a powerhead or something, some rocks to sit on, and an incandescant bulb?? I hear they get stinky really easy too, anyone with experience with turtles care to chime in??

I had a regular hanging filter in my tank... i just stacked the rocks below it so it made a little waterfall and less noise of water running... i had a regular bulb for it to bask under also... (reptile bulb) don't know the actual type.. lol

they get stinky if you dont have the filter or do a water change about once every 2 weeks... but they are awesome to play with... watch out for salmonella though...

Life is too short to wake up with regrets. So love the people who treat you right.. Forget about the one's who don't. Believe everything happens for a reason. If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

Depends on the type and size.I had red belly sliders for years in the tank with my angels and all I did was give them a ledge to rest on.But I could not turn on the light until the sun was up.Because the fish would be shock and lay on the bottom and the turtle new this was there chance at a bite.lol

it will just be one baby turtle. They had red ear sliders, and some kinda baby one with a green shell.

I use to keep them and never had a filter. But the water got foul very fast and i would have to change like every 3-4 days. I m sure if you put a filter, it will probably last longer

They get nasty and fast so you want a canister filter to keep them nice and clean. Can you try to get away with a land tortoise?
