I bought a new heater for one of my tanks thats will be holding my new kamfamalau from Keith. I have been having trouble with the reliability of Jager heaters from Eheim. Some of my older Ebo Jagers have given up on me, so im looking for something more durable! My Red Da Mo tank has a titanium heater that has out lasted all my other heaters so i went ahead and bought an Azoo 300w heater with controller from DrfostersandSmith. I noticed that they had a Fluval Heater that works like a titanium one but has a cover to avoid burns, has any one used that one before? Its a $55 heater, im thinking about getting one of those. Has any one used that one yet? This is the heater i just purchased! This is the one I'm interested in!

Tronic Heater has a guard you can get for them which looks like it could protect it and the Rena Smart looks like its protected as well?

Couple different brands I use at home. My favorite brand is Rena. All of them have been running for 4+ years without any problems. Most accurate temperature reading and output among all. I'm in VA and my 125g tank has just one 300w Rena heater and tank temperature is always at the desirable mark. Only around $20 for a 300w one.

I use Titaniums with a separate exteranl controller. This controller will allow you to wire and hook up a bunch of Titaniums heaters in series. Very good heating system for large body of water such as a 125gal to an outdoor pond.
I don't have any problems with ebos yet.

I have had 4 of them fail on me in the past 2 years. I had noticed the seperate controller option, I might go that route if i end up purchasing more. So no one has experience with the fluval heater? I think im going to get a 300w one and give it a try, looks safer than the normal titanium because it has a hard plastic protector to prevent your fish from getting heater burns. I use a Finnex HDM-300 that my LFS special ordered for me. This was about five years ago (Have them in all tanks now, but original is still perfect) when I was housing Oscars. It stayed alive and kicking with all of their fighting. I actually asked the owner of the LFS to find a heater like this for me after I Oscars broke five glass and plastic heaters in three months. It has a digital readout of set temperature and actual temperature (that it holds perfect) and two external temp probes to place in other spots in the tank.

QUOTE (Moo @ Jul 6 2010, 10:31 AM) I know this is an old topic but i was wondering if you guys would recommend or have any experiences with any of these heaters. Currently setting up a 50 gallon tank and looking at heaters and filters. Fluval E Series Heaters. This one has a cover over it. http://www.fosterandsmithaquatics.com/prod...fm?pcatid=19658Marineland Visi-Therm Heaters . Non covered http://www.fosterandsmithaquatics.com/prod...fm?pcatid=21322Eheim Jager Thermostat Heater. A few of the older replies are partial positive , negative http://www.fosterandsmithaquatics.com/prod...fm?pcatid=22042Out of these three options, I would go for Ebo Jager! they are durable and effective. I trust eheim products over most.

QUOTE (Moo @ Jul 6 2010, 11:17 AM) Awesome. Thanks for the reply.
Also , i'm not just limited to those options. I just happened to be looking on the dr fosters site and picked out those so far.
If there are any other suggestions , i'd be more then happy to check them out as well. Also if any websites have them for sale also. Im glad you asked. I'm currently using a couple jager heaters. But I've slowly been switching all my heaters to Titanium. I think they are very durable as well, they work well, and have lasted me a while. I still keep jagers as secondary heaters though. I bought a few Azoo titanium heaters from Dd Faosterssmith also. They are the cheaper ones but still work well.
