How many of you have a tank that keeps producing sick fish?
A tank no different than your other tank but your fish just don't do well in it.

You guys ever had a tank with a disease that you are paranoid it may cause your new fish to be sick?

You guys ever want to sanitize your fish tank and filters and don't know what to use and you don't want to mess with chemicals that may be toxic to your fish?

You ever considered using salt, lots, and lots of salt?
You can sanitize your tank and the entire system, including the filtration, heaters, etc... with rock salt.
Just use as much as 1 cup / 1 gallon and it will kill off nearly all living organizms in your "fresh-water" tank.
Let the system run with the salt for a few days, drained and refill with fresh water.
Your filtration will be alittle messed up but it will recycled back within a few days; much faster than a brand new filter.
You don't need to touch your filter. Just don't mess with it and leave it like it is for the entire process.
Let the new sanitized system run for up to a week, test your water, and add fish.
Important info., treat it as an uncycled tank. So watch your water parameters and do the necessary water changes.

Good luck.

That's is great info Thank you for sharing with us.
I also suggest everytime doing water change add some Start Right by Jungle to removes chlorine and neutralizes copper while naturally stimulating fishes productive slime coat to help guard against secondary infection. It works great for all my tanks & the water is crystal clear.

I had a "death tank" and I broke it down and ran hot water and vinegar though the system, never thought about high salt content but makes perfect sense. I belive salt also aids with leaching so if anything nasty chemical wise is in there that would help bring it out.

I also use a high concentration of salt in a bucket when I put, rinse and store my nets.

In nature, there is a body of water called the dead sea where it is too salty for any living creature to live in there. Not too sure about the smallest microbes though but since your body is made with mostly water, your body floats automatically in this salty body of water. Pilgrim go there to take a salt bath and have reported to cure their external infections like rashes and ect. ect.

Good to know.
