First of all I am a weeks old member, and kinda new to flowerhorn

This forum is loaded with flowerhorn information, great work guys

I just bought this for $250 and I think I paid too much for it.
He is about 8" t2t

My question is what type of flowerhorn is he?

wow he had pearl cross his head huh?...why it is so dark ,,it is green base or something i think it is just kamalau bro250 it kindda ova price ...but 170 to 150 he is good .but at long yuu like it man it all good ....haaaaahahh i had spent some good money on some fish too and my mom think im crax\zy

That's one stocky and unique looking fish. For $250, I honestly think you are not overpaid for this fish at all. I think he would cost more than that. Since you stated you've just purchased him, I think he's trying to get use to his new environment that's why he's so dard now. Wait for a few days or a week then his true color will come out.
I can see the see red color on him is already intense.
Good luck with him, you will like him in time

I look closely and found-out that pearl did go over his kok, but it kinda fade out,

I came across one of the posting from this forum mention that some how pearl can be improve over kok.

how do you improve pearl over the fish head?

Well I agree about the fish price part is a great deal bro....but about the fish ID??I really can't tell now for 100% but from what I see contain a Golden Monkey blood in this fish...GL with him and please do more ofthen the update of this fish!!!Thanks and GBU

if the fish stay in this black color, it is going to be a very unique piece. for 250, i think you get a very good deal already.

that big giant dot next to the kok shows that it has Zhen Zhu blood in it so it is a zzmalau

I feel better now... knowing that was not a bad buy.

I will keep you guys up to date of his being, and hopefully experts will share some experience on improving the pearl so I can him up

I got him from a guy whom I bumped in a fish store when I travel to San diego last week-end

Your fish looks cold. Your water temp must be in the 70s.

i think you should turn on your light on at least 10hrs/day...cheers...nice fish btw

Very nice and unique flowerhorn......I prefer he stays that way. I like the dark color with shinny pearls.

Oh you wonder what your fish's strain is? What if it was all that in one? It is the result of all these years of hybrid breeding bro. FHs been around for a while now and and they cross breed all over to one another so yours is all of it. Dont trip bro. But yours look more of what they call a kamalau. A nice one.

80 is not as good as 84-86 bro. My flowerhorn was dark at 80 before and I put it up to 84-86, and his head grew and so did colors and shine.
