ching won't hurt. Like any fish feed big variety. They grow very slow in my experience with them, and I hear they get sick very easily when they are small, and popeye can be a problem. Both of the ones I used to own where pretty laid back and did well with the severums that lived with them.

If you could breed that pattern into a flowerhorn body and head, you would be a millionaire

It would take a lot of crossings and excellent selection skills, but yes technically it can happen

I would move up to a bigger tank with more water stability. Small eb jacks are really delicate at that size. Would stay away from chingmix and feed something they can digest better until they are over that hump. They are a bit shy so provide hiding spaces. Just my opinion.

Got mine last month at 1". Almost got disappointed when someone told me that they're fragile and survival rate in tanks are at a low rate. I had five so I asked for some advise from this forum. The best one I got is to add a UV sterilizer on the tank to kill the parasites. Make sure the water is stable and clean all the time. pH should also be at neutral point all the time. I also added a fluidized bed filter to boost bacteria. You see, I got this stuff when I'm still having saltwater fish. But if you can affort to get this things for your EBJD, Everything will be smooth-sailing. Feed them flakes and bloodworms everyday I do feed them 3 times a day. Bloodworms-flakes-bloodworms. Put some other variety of fish (less or not aggressive) to reduce aggression among themselves. Now, they're 2" - 2.5 big. I heard they do grow slow and will only reach up to 8 inches. Blue is getting more intense. And no problem so far. Everyone in the tank seems to be healthy.

First two photod are recent ones (just taken today) . The last two is when I first got them.
