Hey guys,

figured i would start a new topic in the new section.

I recently ordered some chingmix pellets and head booster from the site and i was wondering if it really does help out with the kok as well as do good for the fish.. i would also be feeding them brine strimp, raw tiger shrip on occasion.. Alife brand pellets and a japanese brand of pellets that is supposed to help with color...

Is there anyone with experience of feeding their fh's Chingmix who seen a difference in kok and health?

Thanks

I have been trying out 100% chingmix diet on one of my Zhen Zhu and his color has gotten a lot better. Head has gotten a little better, but the color was an unexpected surprise. You have an excellent game plan as variety is key IMO, but chingmix is some great stuff IMO. IMO not good to feed straight chingmix, I'm just doing it for a month or two to see what happens, but variety in pellet and treats is best IMO. Ching is high in anaxtacin and spirulina which helps promote color development and high in HUGA and omega 3's to promote kok growth.

Chingmix is a very good product. You must following the feeding direction. Chingmix Maxima in the morning & the Chningmix Headbooster in the evening. Try not to mix other pellets for about 2-3 wks. You will see an amazing difference in your fish as long as your fish has good genes. Chingmix will brings out the fishes potential. Don't forget water quality is also a big factor. Good luck.

Oley makes a very important point. I think when a lot of people first get chingmix, they think its a miracle pellet that will turn their fish into a $40K MP no matter how poorly they treat it otherwise. So they way way overfeed their fish. Overfeeding chingmix (or any pellet or food for that matter) will drastically decrease your water quality, thus decreasing your fish's appearence. As long as you are not overfeeding and your fish has the genes, he should be looking better in no time!

oh no i make sure the water quality is great.. i make sure my tanks are clean just as much as i make sure my cat's litterbox is clean... lol with people coming over all the time you want to keep your tank clean for show and for the good being of the fish... i don't like when people mistreat animals of any sort.. just like in some LFS you see the water is always clouDy.. i could understand a problem or a new set up but all the time is not fair to the fish..

but again all the tips i learn from this site are well appreciated and come in extremely handy not only to me but to people browsing as well..

it is comparable in price to New Life Spectrum IMO. A tad more depending on where you buy from, but very close.

well i am currently feeding them AZOO 9 in 1 flowerhorn pellets.. Hikari Lionhead pellets.. Hikari Cichlid Bio gold floating pellets... Hikari Cichlid Excel which is a wheat germ and Spiulina rich daily diet.. i also give them freeze dried brine shrimp and raw tiger shrimp as treats.. so i mix it up a little but only feed them 3-4 times a day to ensure water quality is good... but once i get the chingmix i'm sure i won't have to buy all the different foods to keep them looking good and keep them healthy

I haven't seen the New Life Spectrum here in Toronro or maybe just didn\t pay attention when i did but i know i haven't seen the chingmix in any stores...

The Alife food that i bought is about $29 forr 450 grams so that was affordable.. i bought the Chingmix for $45 with shipping for two 250gram packets i guess it's not that expensive but still more than the Hikari brands... oh well it does the job so i'm told so i guess the price isn't hat bad.... :)

Glad you picked up on that! I certainly was not accusing you of bad water quality, hell your keeping discus which are much more sensitive to water quality than a flowerhorn would ever be jumbo-avatar.gif

it's all in the gene!! if your fishy has a kok potential no matter what u feed it the kok will still develope!! but with the right food the kok will be even better!!! 4_12_12[1].gif
CM is great but it doesn't do miricle, if your flowerhorn is a low grade no matter what u feed it , it's still going to low grade!!

good luck!!! 12.gif

Old saying " you cant polish a turd" and as been said chingmix wont turn any fish into a mp but if you want to bring out the best in your fish you need to do the extra mile and thats where chingmix comes into play as well water quality and parameters. I am wating to post some pics of my shinto, have him on a cm diet now and he is getting color in his head which was a bland spot so I am way excited. His red and pearls are super bright and I know its not me since the wife asked me what I did to make him look so good.

You can get Chingmix from James on here and not sure where to get the other stuff. I have never heard of Viking food but also you need to consider the quality of the food not just the %.

When I bought Humpy a few months ago, the pearls were not very bright or prominent. The color was not as intense either. After feeding him with XO Ocean Free Humpy Head and Starry ( for pearls ), there has been considerable difference. My flowerhorn looks so much better.

In India, most flowerhorn owners feed the XO Ocean Free pellets as they are more widely available.

I just got my chingmix sp80 and maxima in... before that i've been feeding my flowerhorn GrandSumo Red which is a great, it brought out the colors nicely. I started to feed my flowerhorn the Chingmix, but it would just spit it out. After reading this thread i realized i made the mistake of mixing the SP80 and Maxima together. My flowerhorn still IMO is prefering the GrandSumo Red. Someone else told me to starve it for a day or two and then throw in the ChingMix on pellet at a time... Anyone had that issue?

mixing isnt really a mistake. Some people mix it. It really depends on the person because some people mix, some people dont mix. Starving it a day or two and then throw in a pellet at a time can train them to eat the pellet.

I mixed it figuring that I want the benefits of both SP80 and Maxima when i feed my FH.
Is it a good idea to just feed ChingMix and GrandSumo Red or add more variety...i also have Hakiri Bio Gold pellets. I think my flowerhorn is really picky at it's size. It's only about 3 inches, i think it's a female...

You might want to try experimenting.
Try feeding strictly chingmix for 1 month
then feed strictly Grandsumo for 1 month
and then strictly hikari for 1 month
and then you can conclude which one you like.
Then you can mix all of it together and test that for one month.
Until you find your best preference in feeding.
