Alright, in an attempt to provide more filtration for my tanks, i m thinking of getting additional sponge filters from kensfish since i just got an additional air pump that can handle quite a few outputs. My current 40 setups have one ac110 as well as one sponge filter, would it help if i provide an additional sponge? I know it may reduce the size of the tank as it can be quite bulky but i figure more bacterial space to help with the water condition.

I just notice jehmcos website no longer exist and bigals sells them for like 10 a piece for the bigger ones, kensfish on the other hand have these for about 5.00 since im getting more than a dozen

Ken, why don't you just add another AC110?
Some fish are notorious for taking bites out of the sponges.
Sponges don't take alot of space and don't look cool at all.
Jehmco still exist and John gives unbeatible prices.
Jehmco also have dry krill and they are top notch. I think they are even better than the hikari brand.

i could only imagine what my electricity bill will look like rofl.. that means another 15+ ac110s. Any other suggestions? i m definitely going to do a big wet/dry for all the tanks after i reorganize the house, but not sure if it can be done without drilling.. any thoughts?

If I have more than 20 tanks or a small hatchery, I would drill them all for one central w&d system.
All overflow systems can cause flooding. Even the CPR running with an Aqualifter has the potential to cause flooding. The prevention for flooding is to have a big enough sump to handle the entire system or drilled for bulkheads.
But I wouldn't think an AC110 could suck a large amount of juice.

I agree. zzkichi is actually a great person to speak with in regard to having a sophisticated sump system jumbo-avatar (7).gif

Now as for the electricity, i heard that each unit sucks up about 2 dollars a month which doesnt really raise too much even with 20 + additional units but the way my tanks are setup, i only have one end of the tanks to do the hob, if i put any additional, it will be blocking the view from the front since i have the tanks against the wall. Anyhow, your right about the centralized sump. Perhaps when i start my big project, im going to update everyone on the progress 36_11_22[1].gif

I just started watching some of the VCDs Lucky sent me, you would not believe the filtration systems these guys overseas have. Just watched one with video of their fry tanks where the filtration is almost as big as the tank filled with scrub pads. They say they go 3-4 months without changing the water on those tanks!!

I got some sponge filters from Jebo, aznxfiddy something like that. His name is Chris, I think you guys know who I am talking about.

Besides being bigger than the Hydro V, the sponge filters I got from Chris they seem pretty well built too, if not better than Hydro V.

Price-wise, it's cheaper than what I paid for the Hydro V's at Petsolutions.com. You should check out Jebo's stuff for sponge filters. Also, the sponge filters I got from Jebo come with the airstones, wherein the Hydro V don't come with the airstones.

A good thing about Hydro, is you can stack them.
What other sponge filter you can find that is bigger than a double stacked or tripple stacked Hydro5? 90.gif

Ken, for what you described above, it does sound like the additional sponge filters are your best bets. Just always make sure you have one way valves on all your tubing or else flooding can occur. 64.gif

These are cool... Been looking into a solution like this and the Fluval version is way more expensive. I see they also have a spray bar attachment for these humm... kinda cool. Would be nice to get these on a timer to add extra current during the day. I am going to have read up on these more but may be worth getting. Wan to see their power usage etc. I have a little hagen filter like this and I use it in a pinch for keeping fish in buckets, tubs etc etc works like a charm. They are cheap enough may be nice to have on hand as a backup.
