1. When did you start keeping fish? did you start with hybrids or pure species?

I from around 8-9 years of age started. i always admired the fish they swim that way so free and relax. so from that time i have 3-4 small aquarium. i mine small pure cichilid fish. i love all animals and plants but my first love hobby is fish.
I start fish farm 5 years ago from scratch. i started breeding hybrids fortune fish first because i like the wrap tail and their smart behaviour and long life.


2. When do you begin culling fry from your spawn?

Any breeding pairs lay the eggs after four hours or overnight i always take out for hatch. i will but the temp at 30 degress and put medicine for damage egg not spread and spoil the good egg. if good pair hatch percent is beween 50-70 %. but some pairs will get very low hatch percent. depends on what type fish.

fish hatch i feed them right through. just like human baby always hungry anytime. so you must feed them all the time for them growing. but you must choose good food.

from 2 1/2 inches i start seperate them quality. good grade fortune fish percent is very low. but now da mo kamfa good quality percent is high .but hatch figure is low.


3. What do you look for when choosing fry?

Fortune fish is very hard for choose . must have good taste and experience.
I check tail first make sure them have wrap tail and tail must shinny. have short mouth and nice pearls and good body design.

4. What should your buyers be looking for when selecting one of your FF for purchase?

In this new era so you choose fish must use different way. for me i always choose tail first. any fish must have wrap tail or big enough for balance their body design. fish waiting mature you will know tail how important for them. it connects to how they swim and body design will not get "hump back". plus will connect if they will have long life span.

depends on what kind of fish you choose. gene is very important. if fish have short mouth get kok percent is more high.
i always give advise to my customers spend a little more money and buy a fish showing potential already is best choice.

5. Of your many strains, which is your personal favorite and why?

my main breed is fortune and da mo kamfa both of them have different kind of beauty.
fortune fish if you get good quality will be perfect fish. good quality percent is very low so is not good for breeder. so you want breed this kind fish must spend many years for research so you must have good financial background.

da mo kamfa is all the merry points about the fish join together and for kamfa type this kind da mo potential is show off early and get monster kok percent is more high. one thing is also important is that they will not loose fashion and they have long life.

6. What kind of filtration system/tank setup is best for keeping a FF?

I mine fish i never worry about the water. any newbie start mine fish first thing you want to learn is filter system. what kind material for filter system is best and do not need to spend money and time.

I hate do maid job for the fish so i mine fish is very relax because i am lazy people so i always looking for which way is easy for looking after fish. everybody have their own kind system. main point is your system can keep water clean and do not over feed.

7. Have you reached your expectations in your breeding? Are you working on any new strains?

I never stop research new breed fish. i keep many nice quality female da mo for cross breed again. this kind female can cross breed with different kind s males. in the market you want find regular kamfa female for breed is very hard for find so if you have new kind da mo female is crazy.

8. Are you still creating the old strains of FF?

Yes, but i put in the pond for them growing bigger and showing potential already because i find some members do not have patience for waiting to see them at different age show off different potential.

9. Do you keep any fish besides FF?

I breed parrot also. just for give my friend (wholesale business). but not so much.

10. What advice would you give to some one looking to keep a hybrid for the first time?

If you want start this hobby Zhen Zhu is best choice because it is easy for look after and from small colour is show off already.
If you are more senior in this hobby da mo kamfa is best choice because it does not loose fashion, and have different kind behaviour and potential will show different at different times so you will always be enjoying.
