1. How did ILC start?

ILC was established in 2001 and growing from less than 5 members until about more than 30 members, all those 30 members are actively supporting ILC both in every Flowerhorn competition in regional basis or nationally, Our ILC member are consists of flowerhorn lovers that live in Jakarta area (West Java) .

2. Tell us a little bit about your first Indo Contest

The first Indo Comp is being held at June, 2002 at Gajah Mada Plaza and the class being open for that first competition is Zhen Zhu, Non Marking, and Chilasoma. The judge is Mr. Danny Yap from Malaysia and his others 2 friends and the participated at that time around 350-400 contestant.

4. What traits do you look for in choosing a breeding pair both Male and Female?

For Male : Big kok, pearls, colors, fins and tail
For Female : Pearls, Color and body structure

5. What the flowerhorn Feature that you look for most when selecting a show Fish?

A.) The fish must not have any physical defect or deformity
B.) Had a good mental not a scare one or sum fish that can get easily freak out
C.) The fish that we pick must be qualified on the standard from each category, example if we want to pick Zhen Zhu for competitions the pearls must be crazy.

6. What kind of preparation do your flowerhorn go through before a contest?

Usually, do couple times of water change, play with out fish using toy (that we share in our 1st group buy), gave him a full lights, and sum times moved the fish from this tank to another tank.

7. With all the shows you have attended and multiple group buys you must have refined your skills in fish transport, what are some things a first time transhipper can do to increase the fish's safe arrival?

Don’t feed ur fish anything before u ship around 3-4 days maximum, prepare ur water that u will used for shipment around 2 days before, used a elastic plastic and tall one, make sure the oxygen amount in ur fish bag is enough for the fish and make sure ur fish aren’t sick before shipment.

8. What is one thing flowerhorn hobbyists often underestimate the importance of when they start out?

Usually they will throw many kinds of food to their fish without knowing what kind of food are their fish needed, (ex : if fish needs color we should feed them more color enhancer pellets) coz we can’t make our fish develop pearls, color, body shape, and kok in the same times.

9. What should a buyer look for in your next GB?

That’s a difficult to answer bro, honestly each people has their own personal taste so is hard for me. But at ILC next group buy we offer a new generations of Indo Malau, maybe if people can see their potentials many members will choose one and keep one as their new collections.

10. Other than your own breedings, whose fish do you admire most?

I think this’s the longest answer from me bro since honestly I admire many breeders from Malaysia and even from Indonesia. If from Malaysia I would say Kamalau and Kamfamalau strain then if from Indonesia side I will said JaPro fish are amazing.
