Proven Fertile - the female has laid eggs and produced wigglers
Proven Egg Layer - the female has only laid eggs

Kenpur brought this up to me alot of old school guys dont consider a Proven Egg Layer to be fertile since she has only produced eggs and not wigglers. So is this female fertile? I have seen in the flowerhorn hobby fertile could either been egg layer and/or produced wigglers but for purist this is not so just want to know everyone take on the matter.

To me in order for a female to be fertile the eggs that they lay must be produce to be consider fertile.

hm.. interesting, always thought or read that if female laid eggs, that they are fertile. We really need some breeders in here to give us some insights..

This is the answer.

Laying eggs does not mean fertile. It's a good chance it should be, but her body could be weak and lay bad eggs.

Also have to remember maturity rates of flowerhorn can vary.
