No offense guys, but is it just me or we have to slow down on the group buy. I love flowerhorn, but these group buy are flooding the market with a lot of flowerhorn and making our sells go sour. Not just that, its like before we even receive our fish, another group buy is starting up. I'm doubtful to buy any fish in the group buy, since i always see a better one in the next one. Seriously, i can't wait for the King Kamfa gb, but hopefully you guys give us some time to grow out the fish, instead of just letting us buy it, then regret buying it because better looking fish is in the next gb which usually occur a week after. And again, don't get offended by my concern, I just don't want all our fish to lose value and people throwing away or ignoring their fish just because they see a better one a day or 2 after.

Well if they dont sell here then will be on another site and I would rather give our members first crack and a better price since the seller does not have to pay a %. I understand you concern it has been voiced and the last 2 Gb were pushed due to circumstances and we are getting back on schedule.

The King Kamfa are for sale in the selling it section. If you are interested then you are free to place a bid as they are being Auctioned. As far as the GB go. They are helping members by bringing in high quality fish from overseas... Please don't take this the wrong way but if you don't like it then don't buy it... if u do then buy... why even post this? Just my opinion... I personally dont regret buying any of my fish even though better ones have come along as i liked them when i bought them.. i bought them because i liked them and not because i thought they were the best looking fish... Again pls dont take this the wrong way.. it's just my opinion. Thanks! -------------------- ![]() ![]() |

bro it's like everything else in life. You buy the latest and greatest computer and within 2 months something better and faster is out. You buy the newest model car, then next year it's upgraded and nicer. Nobody is making you buy fish, and it's peoples choice on which fish to buy. Isn't a bigger selection better? I've only gotten 1 GB fish, from ILC. Like Tina said, there has been way nicer fish offered since I've gotten mine, but I love my ILC fish.

I'm fairly new to this forum and I have seen so many good looking flowerhorns that I wish I could have them all, but it's like this bro. "you have to know when to hold them, know when to fold them, know when to walk away, know when to run," cause the next BBD is right around the next corner. Just my opinion, with lots of love.

I understand your frustration bro, but you're not thinking of the rest of the members on this site. Should new members coming in looking to buy overseas fish be denied that opportunity because you just bought one?
Part of our mission statement is to push the US flowerhorn hobby further then it has ever gone before. By not bringing in new fish on a regular basis, we remain stagnant. We aren't looking to just rest on our laurels here. We are always looking to go bigger and better in every avenue we take on. I think all members should keep this in mind and here is my suggestion to you: You have to take a bigger picture of what fish breeds and strains are out there and pick your favorite. If its something we haven't yet brought in or had a GB for send a pic to Nam or anyone of the staff and we will work every possible angle we can to meet the demand for any particular strain or breed. You may see people claiming that certain breeds or strains are exclusive to them and you can only purchase from them to get the "true" version of that strain or breed. This is patently false and borderline laughable. In the flowerhorn hobby NOTHING is exclusive. All you need is a buyer willing to put up the money and the connections to make it happen. If you, the members, are willing to put up the money we will find the connections to make it a reality. Nam is second to none in negotiating these GBs. Sometimes I wish everyone could see the work he puts in behind the scenes to make these events happen as he doesn't get the credit he deserves. So, I would like to pose this question to our membership: What are you guys looking for in a fish? What strains do you like that you haven't seen for sale? What strains that were for sale would you like to see again? -------------------- ![]() |

I think it's not the group buy that we had to control but our buying impulse. Like bro Danz, I think it's nice that we got a first shot of those fishes out there. You see, we've seen a lot of high quality masterpieces on this site and also lots of advises. At least you have an idea on what fish to get. It's up to you on how you will control yourself on buying fish. I know this hobby is addicting. Variety's what makes this hobby last.

As to your question Pantherlax I personally am looking for a specific coloration and pattern of fish.
I'd like it to be a red and blue tone body with extremely vibrant pearls. And the potential for a good KOK. I don't know if anything like this exist. But I'd kill to get a fish like that. Red front half / Blue back half with pearls all over. ( American pride is all I guess ) |

( American pride is all I guess ) Blue is a difficult color to get in a FH, red is easy. Even "Blue dragons" back in the day were more green to me than blue. Most blue in flowerhorn comes from pearlings rather than base color. But keep your eyes peeled here and elsewhere and should you find a pic, send it over to one of us and we will see what we can do for you! Your best bet would be to look at some maybe some Syn and some Carpinte crossings to get a nice blue pearl sheen giving the impression of a blue colored flowerhorn This post has been edited by Pantherlax: Oct 8 2008, 02:27 PM -------------------- ![]() |

What do you think the offspring of a Super Red Texas and an Electric Blue Ahli / Hap. Maybe a few generations down the road, but thats a very nice blue. Much like what I'd love.

nope EBJD would be the best hope and that would have a snowballs chance in hell. Would be badass if someone pulled it off and they where stable. Will never happen though.

I'm still new to breeding, I haven't done any at all. Can you explain and then I can search for a possible match for what I'm looking for.
Thanks. We can take it to PM's also... I feel awkward.. |

Don't feel awkward at all bro, I think you are helping a lot of our members who have questions but are too bashful to ask them The Blue Hap is an African Cichlid which is genetically too dissimilar to the South American and Central American Cichlids used to make the Flowerhorn. Its the same reason why you can breed a dog with a cat, except the genetic differences are more subtle in the former case. Does that answer your question? -------------------- ![]() |
