This guy hides a lot and when I was feeding them I saw this and tore apart the tank to look at it and snap some pics. Any ideas what this is? He appears to be ok not acting abnormal and from what I read may be a cyst... dont know though

That looks just like what TK25 had on his tail.. but it spread and turned into 3 of them with a clear like bubble that grew overtop.. i took Nams advice and treated him with salt. it started to go down and i rubed some salt right on it but gently... after a week or so it went down completely.. the scar is only fading now though but the lumps are gone.

It is a new fish?

He is my rarefish SB and had him for awhile. I added lace rock to my tank and the fish love it but Ive noticed weird injuries from it since it has hard edges. I will setup the hospital tank and toss him in there.

Thanks for the advice!

Lace rock is gorgeous... my friend had a 230 full of it with AC... anway maybe there was some type of bacteria from the rocks that may have caused this?

I hope he gets better:)

I am not sure, I am thinking about taking it out. I have to leave a set of lights for the aro to navigate, he got spooked one night and its taken him almost a month to heal up. Its great for the smaller fry casue they have little caves to call home and looks beautiful but dont know if its worth the head aches and I am going to repurpose this tank so its going to go and move out to the pond. You think it could be a cut thats gotten infected and swollen?

well it looks like some type of infection... so it could be that he cut himself on the rock..

then again it could also be a cyst like u mentioned.. but it looks much like what my TK had on his tail.. 2 weeks with salt treatment and he was back to normal
