I saw this same video awhile back. I use this on my fry grow out tanks, it works decent. Better than just a cheapy sponge filter IMO.

That filter looks fun to make but I think a bit ghetto.
A hydro sponge works way better, looks better, and probably the same price as the toilet tube.
That's just me.

but hydor sponge has no carbon or versatility like this filter. It does look ghetto, but good for grow out tanks. Would look silly on a show tank though IMO.
