Bro,
In your post of the last Indo Exhibition, I have a question for you about the Zhen Zhu class.
I'm using examples of the first 2 fish posted but the rest of them are also valid.
How do they classify those fish as Zhen Zhu and not Malau?
To me, they still look very similar exept for the longer body.
Please enlighten us. And all experts are welcome to contribute.

4_12_12[1].gif If I hadn't known they were in the Zhen Zhu Category I would have thought they were GM. The first one has more of a Zhen Zhu mouth. Everything else is pretty darn close to GM, not very many differences that my untrained eye can see. The second fish I would have thought for sure was GM. I made a little chart as to why I would have assumed it to be GM. Maybe the experts can tell me where I went wrong...

hehehe really confusing

To be honest to me a Golden Monkey and a MALAU is still a ZZ.

To me, if the flowerhorn has more traits of a kamfa, then ill call it kamfa. if it looks like more of a Zhen Zhu then ill call it a zz. if it has both qualities, definitely ill call it zzkamfa or kamfazz.

sorry roundhead if it gets more confusing. hehehe

but hey, for the benefit of your question and others. lets try to wait whats the best answer.

Pat can you make more of these? Send me the original and possible I can make something interactive. Can you list the predominate traits of the strain as well, would be a goos section for the site.

Bro RH, your question is about why they are in Zhen Zhu category and not in GM/Kamalau category right?? At first I want you to know that both fishes are Golden Monkey mix and are not stable yet. Some of them will look a lot like GM, some of them will look like Zhen Zhu and some other will look in between (This is also the reason why we said that J-Malau is our own definition of Golden Monkey and Zhen Zhu Malau and they are not stable yet). So in the competition we ask our expert judges to determine which category this kind of fishes should be put in. The fishes with 75% Golden Monkey characteristics or more will be put in GM category and other will be put in ZZ category.
I am not sure how and why the judges decided to put the 2 fishes in Zhen Zhu category as I have not asked them about these matter, but I will try to explain to you base on my knowledge and my experience. As for the first fish shown, we can see that its flower line, color tone, mouth (look at the lips), and eyes are in Zhen Zhu characteristics. This fish have a lot of ZZ characteristics, that is why it is put in Zhen Zhu category. As for the second fish, just like the first fish the flowerline, the mouth (look at the lips) are in Zhen Zhu characteristic. There are some other Zhen Zhu characteristics in this fish that can not be seen clearly in the picture, like for example the hardness of the tail, the thickness of the body and the body muscle (GM have a characteristic of having more muscular body shape compare to ZZ). Yes, I have to agree that the second fish can be called Golden Monkey since it has a lot of Golden Monkey characteristics, but I guess our judges determine that its GM characteristic is less than 75%.
That is why it is put in ZZ category.
I hope this explaination can give you better picture and understanding about the category in Indo Flowerhorn Competition.  176.gif

LOL I can send it to you bro, but the funny thing is I am wrong. Like bejita said their judges ( who know much more than me ) determined it to have less than 75% Golden Monkey traits. Thanks for your help bejita, I hope you understand we aren't attempting to call into question you or the judges, just trying to do our best to understand for ourselves...

I can make more too, would you like it in psd, jpeg, gif format?

The mouth (the lip) of the Golden Monkey is thinner and more like kamfa's lips. Unlike ZZ's mouth or lips which are more swollen like Angelina Jolie's lips. :D

I got you bro. I never knew this.
Again guys, is it me or anyone here just learned something about the difference in lips?
Now I can relate Zhen Zhu = DSL. I think this will stick to me for along time.

Thanks again Andry.
