I am thinking about setting up a small catfish tank for my son who loves them. I am thinking about 2-3 Pimelodus Pictus and 1-2 striped raphael catfish along with some fancy plecos. Any ideas for smaller cats?

I would say get some Albino Cory's and some tiger cory's.. I have 4 in my betta community tank and they are great.. And they do a good job cleaning the bottom of the tank for me.. lol.. but they lay eggs like crazy...
I like the Cory's because they are stubby and cute...:) -------------------- ![]() ![]() |

My favorite small cat is the south american bumblebee cat. It only gets to be like a few inches but it is built thick like a RTC. I had one in my tank that only came out at night and I thought I had lost for a while until I redid the tank and found him under some rock.

RTC are awesome but they become tank busters how big a tank? I have been trying to unearth pictures of my 300 from back in the day. I had a RTC that was AT LEAST 20 pounds. He would eat 3 whole whiting. FROZEN. That fish was insane. He was with a 3.5 foot lungfish. -------------------- ![]() |

Tatia perugiae is a cool little catfish.
Spyder, Tiger Shovelnose can get 36"+ and Limas get 18-20". what about the 4-line pictus cats, they max around 9" usually a bit smaller, i can post mine if youd like. This post has been edited by Gage: Sep 4 2008, 09:38 PM |

I totally forgot, another favorite type of catfish are all the synodontus. You can have a big variety. Spotted, striped, all different colors. They are very hardy fish. There are many that are dwarf species that can be kept in small tank.
