I found this flowerhorn on craigslist near where I live and it was a decent looking fish. Probably a Zhen Zhu but it was begining to fade orange on its tail and its fins. What will become of this fish if it peels out. Will it be a jing kang? I don't really know enough to tell and also if a female looks like a really nice red/gold flowerhorn with many pearls and no flowerline does that mean it is most likely a GM? I would post pics but they are not my fish and that wouldn't be right. Also this guy is asking $35 for both male and female. Both 6" and the female keeps laying eggs. I might just buy them any way.

post the link for us to see :) if it is to large it may not finish the fading process and be ugly.

if it is a Zhen Zhu then it is a fading ZZ, if it is a Golden Monkey then it is a fading Golden Monkey :) the flowerline doesnt really mean much for telling the difference between the variants.

Ok here they are. First 3 pics are male 4 and 5 female. The 6th and 7th pics the guy says its a blue dragon. I was thinking zz.

I really think I should buy them anyway just because its super cheap and they are decent looking fish.

This guy wants $30 for the male and $10 for the female or $35 for both. Good deal yeah.

Also the last fish a guy wants $50 for it. What you think?

Really you don't think that female is good for breeding. I know she has no line but it looks really pearly to me and seems to have good color. I figure if you cross it with a nice Zhen Zhu you could get a decent fish ya? But then again I am still an amateur. Also its $10 I would say that even a shitty flowerhorn is worth $10

For me if i had the room i would take all 3.

IMO the female is great for breeding. She has good color and lots of pearls.

Doesn't look like her water conditions are all that great so if you take her hom and give her clean water and some TLS i'm sure she will be a great breeder.

As for the first one.. you never know what it might turn into after the fading process.. jsut make sure to ask him how long he has been fading because some fish never complete the fading process and dont look that great.

The last one is decent for that price. Nice double row and nice short face.. The kok might pop for you too.

I would go with it.. 3 fish for $85 can't hurt.

See what happens..

If you get them be sure to post them on here:)

Good Luck!

You have to remember females pass on most of there traits to the fry so u want good body structure pearls finage and color.also a kok our sloping head.her mouth is long tail long will probably drop no flowerline I like that though colors are just ok and no kok at all.but if u like those traits go for it.I just try to tell people this and chris should no this to cause not long she had no space and wanted new fish.don't buy so many at once especialy crapy ones because this hoby is adictive and in a week or two u will find better flowerhorn for better deal and ur stuck with these fish u can't get rid of.it is not easy to resale average fh.just get number 3 it is a great starter fish and it leaves u room for more fish down the line.pluss why would u want 300 pluss fry of average flowerhorn it is so hard to get rid of them.I am just trying to help.get the third one and then wait u will be able to get a better flowerhorn down the line and u will be happy u have space 4 it.50$ is ok 4 that fish.the other ones are cheap cause they are cheap fish.

Hey thanks. Great sound advice squat. I think I am going to pass on all 3. I have a flowerhorn that looks exactly like the 3rd one only he has a big kok and better pearling. I always thought that the traits usually come from the male. Also I have a fabulous looking little female that I will just have to wait on. That and I am still waiting for my female synspilum to color out. Thanks again.

Ok so I don't know for you guys but I live in western Wisconsin right on the border to Minnesota. There are quite a few fish shops around the Twin Cities area that will take any fish and most give store credit. I live about 45min from World of Fish which will give me 1/3 of whatever they sell the fish for. (store credit.) And when it comes to flowerhorns they can sometimes get a nice one in from time to time. I actually got a nice Zhen Zhu with a kok and double flowerline for $15 because they thought it was a jack dempsey. lol. Either way talk to your fish shops and see if they do this.

I live in jersey and it is not hard to find fish and it is very hard to sell to the stores cause they can get whatever they want from ny or philly airports.u bring them fish and unless it is amazing or they no someone wgo wants it they turn u away.we can go diving and sell them salt water fish but not fresh.they will take them 4 free.u got a good deal going there.I would get a mp female and male breed them and sell the good ones to them.u don't want to be the guy who sells the crapy fish though if u no wut I mean.u could be the man out there .go to the stores with pics and literature and start talking them up bro.

I will try but the hard part is getting the fish I have now to grow out and then breed and then produce sell-able fry. There is someone though who has been bringing World of Fish really nice looking Flowerhorn fry. I actually bought a few. Either way they need more. Oh and I guess all of the fish I posted in here have been sold.
