I was wondering what type of fluorescent is best for bringing out all the color of your flowerhorn.

I was at home depot and totally got confused at all the different type they had.

Any advices will help.

I'm with Keith. I'm using all pink lights now for all my tanks. It brings out and also adds on the color (Red tone) in flowerhorns. Don't buy any light at Home depot, I tried those Aquarium lights already, none of them works. I think the best places you can find pink lighting is your LFS.

I second that. The bulbs from the hardware store is not made for aquarium.
Go to the LFS.

Man i wish i had the ideal lighting for my fh. I just use the cheap generic aquarium lights that come with the tanks, and use the marineglo bulbs. It gets expensive for lights and electricity once you have too many tanks, I just have my 90g on compact florescents, trying to save money to sustain my hobby.

As far as expensive on electricity, you don't have to keep your light on at night everyday. Your fish will need to rest, so turn off the lights sometimes.

Goto Petco, or PetsMart, they have a medium selection of light bulbs.

I personally prefer a blue shade bulb with a brightly colored background. Ocean scenery with lots of orange and red.

tried to edit, or the cheap way, paint some orange and red spots on the back of your tank, and then over paint the rest with a nice baby blue.
