This caused me to check my plumbing on the UV. Found out the intake tube was kinked... Problem has been fixed, and hopefully the green water goes away again. Very nice!
You could of went with a huge rubbermaid garbage can and a big pump for an awesome W&D filter. Way better filtration and probably saved a few $$$ too. Just my 2 cents. -------------------- Know fish or No fish

dude you are the man...this is awesome..thanks for sharing thanx bro. we are so happy with how this looks. i noticed a peeling red texas earlier today. also excited about that too. Very nice! You could of went with a huge rubbermaid garbage can and a big pump for an awesome W&D filter. Way better filtration and probably saved a few $$$ too. Just my 2 cents. trust me this is a temporary filter setup. next season will overhaul it and expand the filter a ton. i am not happy with how dirty it looks or happy with how the waterfall works either. these things will have to be worked out soon enough, but for now it's running and fishes/plants are growing. this filter setup cost em a total of $37. pump was $29 off ebay and plumbing was rest. the filter canister was free from a friend. thanx again bro for the comment and advice :D This post has been edited by Marcus: Jul 28 2008, 10:34 PM -------------------- |

add some pleco so it could eat up some green lol we have been considering this for some time now. we currently have 8 total bristlenose plecos we were thinking of putting in there. problem is they are about 2.5inches and 4 are longfins, 3 are regular, and 1 albino regular. we are afraid of any abuse from the larger cichlids in there. anyone have any experiences that could help? -------------------- |

WOW, that is a great price for the filter setup.
Might as well keep it and run it with your future filter. So what type of fish you got in there now? This post has been edited by Round Head: Jul 28 2008, 11:27 PM -------------------- Know fish or No fish

Truly inspirational! Do you have any predators in your areas such as cats, racoons, bird, etc?

Truly inspirational! Do you have any predators in your areas such as cats, racoons, bird, etc? thanx. glad you like it. we do have animals that live in the area, but i live in a neighborhood in a big city. however there is a woodland with decent size creek in it. i have not noticed anything in my back yard yet. we own 2 dogs that keep the yard we scented. my main concern is for a crane to find it.... oh and i have seen raccoons come out of the street drains... i dont know much about plecos but i know for sure they get large so I would look for a type of pleco that doesnt get too big for that pond. they are tough if they grow larger then the other fish, they will probably grow faster since alge will grow quick. very nice setup by the way! well i know bristle nose plecos don't get very big, maybe 8inches. i also hear they breed like rabbits in a pond with pleco caves, and they are mainly a algae eater. not like others that mostly eat wood. thanx for your comment, and insight. :) wow thats a really nice pond! where did u get all those nice plants? thanx monkey! we got all those plants for under $10 each, even that lily. the smaller floating plants we originally purchased 3 plants. the other potted plants are getting large now. one in particular is huge compared to when we got it. the iris really hasn't done much other then grow more leave no height really. all these plants except the floaters supposedly are hardy and will come back next warm season. i however will most likely take the lily inside for the winter. -------------------- |

That's one nice looking pond bro. Plants look very health and so is all the fishes. I think you should put a underwater camera so you can see all your nice fish.
-If you put some barley(I think that's what its call), basic just "hay" all just bunch up together it will help to reduce the algae growth.... |
