hey

has anybody here come past a black flowerhorn? my mate just gave me one and it looks kinda not right lol, body is black with orange eyes,,,,will post pic up soon

You know just the other day i was thinking to myself if anyone has a black flowerhorn. I have seen all white so why not all black???? Question is your black naturally or is it stressed?

hrm im not sure because i just got it off a friend, to me i think its stressed but it fins are black and its head also. my friends tank setup was all black, black background, black pebbles. so im thinkin the fish went black due to its enviroment.

from the look of it in the second pic, it just looks like stress bars.. but i could be wrong..

fins look different to a barred midas and also we dont have them in AUS but then again i have no clue

I say it looks like a barred midas as well. maybe with some type of Trimac mix down the line...

A Trimac is what people believe was the base fish of the flowerhorn creation. you can google it and see some pics.

I doubt it is a pure Midas. Looks like those Czech bred FH.

FYI: I did a couple of threads of Black FHs on FHRUS a while back. Seems that many folks want just that.

In Asia it is taboo to have/breed such a flowerhorn for it is bad luck.
