I wasn't sure where to put this so mods feel free to move it to wherever you feel it should be.
Hello everyone, I'm Kel, I was asked to join up here by someone on youtube by the name flowerhornsdotorg and share pictures of my planted tanks and also help people with plant related questions. I'm by no means an expert with plants but have had planted setups for well over a year now. I've had many many different scapes(as is the norm with us planted folk) and genreally my scapes change every few months. At the moment I have 5 tanks running, 4 of them planted, all with small fish, the largest fish I've kept were bichirs and a geophagus but that was many moons ago Anyway here are my setups and current scapes; Tank 1 - 39" x 14" x 16" - approx 130Litres Lighting - 2 x 28 W T5 unit with built in reflectors Filtration - Aqua pro 2, 800L/hr. Dosing - Tropica plant nutrition + CO2 - 2 x Nutrafin cannisters & Flourish Excel Fish / inverts 5 Corydoras Melanotaenia(beautiful golden corys, highly recommend them) 5 Corydoras Aeneus 7 Otocinclus 6 White cloud mountian minnows(+ 1 WCMM fry) Plenty of Malaysian trumpet snails ![]() Tank 2 - 32" x 14" x 16" - approx 105Litres Lighting - 2 x 20W built in lighting. Filtration - Fluval 305 Dosing - Tropica plant nutrition + CO2 - Just Flourish Excel Fish / inverts 2 x fancy goldfish Half a dozen Malaysian trumpet snails ![]() Tank 3 - Clearseal tank 24" x 12" x 15" - approx 60 Litres Lighting - 1 x 18W Filtration - 2 x fluval + at the moment,I'm waiting on a Tetratex Ex600 to be delivered for this. Dosing - Tropica plant nutrition + CO2 - Just Flourish Excel Fish / inverts 6 Corydoras Panda 5 Corydoras Trilineatus 10 amano shrimp 5 or 6 Malaysian trumpet snails ![]() Tank 4 - Can't remember the measurements offhand but it's 25 Litres Lighting - 1 x 8W built in bulb. Filtration - Stingray elite 5 Dosing - Tropica plant nutrition + CO2 - none Fish / inverts A dozen cherry shrimp & malaysian trumpet snails ![]() Tank 5 - 24" x 12" x 12" - approx 50 Litres Lighting - A table lamp(this is my non planted tank) Filtration - Fluval 2+ Fish / Inverts; Used to contain several african dwarf frogs but after a bacterial infection from a new frog I'm left with just one female. I used to breed these and have written articles on them. I'm hoping to locate some healthy stock soon to get my breeding project back on track. ![]() Here's the most recent video of 3 of my tanks, I have plenty more on youtube including alot of videos of my frogs breeding, singing, the tadpoles etc; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3VAfsUy5AI So that's my setups, the planted tanks were re-scaped last week so aren't at there best particularly the goldfish tank which has yet to be scaped, I 've just chucked the plants in for now until I decide how I want it to look. I'm not sure what I can contribute to this site other then help with plants and general advice about the hobby, I've never kept flowerhorns, the only cichlid I've ever kept was a geophagus(as I said at the top of the post) but that was only briefly. Anyway that's me and my setups :D -------------------- ![]() "Television is reality and reality less than television" |

You have some nice tanks.
I thought gold fish would eat plants and aquatic vegetation? |

I just found this thread.
Very nice plants you have there and an excellent scape too. It looks like you mastered the proper usage of sand. The mountain scape has a sense of simplicity but nevertheless killer. -------------------- Know fish or No fish

Thank you for the welcomes
Phoman - the goldfish are very good, they do nibble on the days I skip feeding but not enough to cause any lasting / substantial damage Roundhead - The mountain scape is exactly that, simple, no plants just rocks & moss balls flattened out, the proper usage of sand? not sure what you mean? -------------------- ![]() "Television is reality and reality less than television" |
