I only went back to the shop where I bought my first flowerhorn,(See 'my fisrt flowerhorn, what to look for') to have a look around.
But after 30 min's I had ordered another tank setup and reserved two more fish!!!!!!!!!!! The tank should be delivered tomorrow, and I've already cleared space for it in my study. I'm looking at the empty space where my new tank will go as I write this post. Am I wierd? do I need a doctor? |

Gee bro, This Flowerhorn hobby is so addictive. You just acted like us but sometimes you have to have self contron or otherwise you'll end up having one flowerhorn in a 10 gallons or less space. Welcome to the club!!!!!!!

Yep! got the iron stand, and the only thing stopping me buying two tanks this time, was the look on the wifes face LOL.
anyway, I reckon to give it another couple of weeks and then try to smuggle the third tank in under the cover of darkness. |

hehe,
Just a Warning, Dont go overboard on it. at least most of us thats been in the hobby, knows not to overload. Its a lot of responsibility. Sometimes its nice to just grow a couple and enjoy it. Or else you will become a slave for the fish. -------------------- To order Chingmix email sales@chingmixusa.com

for me, it all started with just one then adam is lonely so I got him an eve. They mated so then I needed another tank to raise them frys. 10% to keep out of 200 is 20 frys and cull the rest. More tanks to store these keeper frys. These frys then grows up to mate then more tanks coming. Before you know it, the more fish you get, the more tanks you are going to get and it's a headache.
not to mention getting hospital tanks too. If I have to start over, I'll just get 2 big tanks for 2 masterpieces male and no female at all. Breeding is the casual of my insanity. |

At one time during the peak of FHs my friends & I bought a flowerhorn or more each week.
There were literally lines of folks waiting for the trucks to come from the airport (each Thursday night at that time). The boxes of flowerhorn were opened frantically by staff on the streets of HK with customers aggressively pulling out bags of flowerhorn searching for that special one. People eventually had to be hired to guard flowerhorn as they unloaded trucks when crowds were very big during delivery. Tanks were locked because people would steal flowerhorn from shops all the time. That's over with and that was overseas. Now in USA you really have it bad if you are always waiting on a new arrival. Some are like that here in USA! Always having a flowerhorn on its way to your home from overseas. All the time. Many keep flowerhorn in trendy ways like some high school popularity contests. That's what the sellers like best and that is why there is so much hype & bogus info for promotion of FH. Other folks keep many flowerhorn because they have that collectors habit. I like to keep them myself as pets or just for visual study. I hope some folks out there do keep them responsibly as a family pet because they sure do make a great "pet" fish. We shall see how the hobby grows in USA over time. |

I'm lucky, because I live in Thailand now (originally from the UK) flowerhorns and Tank setups are cheap.
I do take the point that the more fish you have, the more you have to look after=more work. I really do only want 3 or 4 large fish, and I'm not really into the breeding thing (yet). Look out for some photos in the next week or so. Regards Jaiyenyen |

You learn quickly to not pay attention to the wifes face and willing to sleep on the couch to have a new fish. -------------------- |

My son love to play with a finger chaser I have and piss him off and attack the glass, and my ILC fish will jump up a little to grap a shrimp from your hand. Scares the hell out of him but he allways wants to feed him. He hates most of my cichlids but he has a ball with the flowerhorns. Oscars have allways been a favorite of mine because of their personalities but flowerhorn are even more personable IMO. -------------------- [A minute ago] teta_head_fish: isuck

Ok,
Hopefully, you will see some photos of the new tank, and my latest flowerhorn. What do you think? The tank is 48"x20"x20" and it came complete with everything, including stand, about $100. The Flowerhorn was the same price as my first one, $11. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
