Redid some of the tanks so i can save some electricity as well as adding more space for the fishes. In additions to the wet/dry system, i will be using the 33 gallon long strictly for plants so would that help lower the nitrate in the rest of the tanks?

Looks good. The planted should lower your nitrates. Sort of like a refugium for a saltwater tank. I wouldn't go getting crazy with all kinds of high maintainence plants though. Just throw a bunch of Java Moss in there, maybe some Java Ferns, Hornwort, Anacharis, ParrotsFeather. Those plants will do well with low to medium lighting and no fertilizer, CO2, etc. If you have to feed the planted tank that's defeating the purpose of setting it up to reduce nitrates in the fish tanks) There's a guy on AquaBid, SkiBoy who sells these "plant balls" that would work well in there. It's basically a big tangle of Java Moss, Anacharis, Hornwort and something else that just sort of takes over the tank. He's selling them mainly for a refuge for your newborn livebearer fry or shrimp or whatever but they'd work for what you want too.
I'd love to see pics of the finished setups and see how it all turns out. -------------------- |

LoL, that sig is giving me a headache. I can not for the life of me understand who exactly watches the Power Rangers. Except for the little retarded kid who lived on our block when we lived in town for a few years. He used to run up and down the sidewalk playing Power Rangers. You'd pull in and he'd come charging over to your car doing all these "karate" moves and yelling Go Red Ranger! Go Green Ranger!

Ken, one problem I encountered in my rack system was the line to the sump should be extra large, or tapered downward or else you will have flow issues. You can raise tanks with styro to get a downslope, it will help a lot.
