120 gallon 48"X24"X24" tank and stand. Tank is scratched up a bit but the fish don't mind. This tank is currently up and running in my basement so it definitely holds water. Filters are a Mag. 350 and a Jebo cannister equivalent to a Fluval. Two 4ft double 40 watt flourescent light strips and a couple of powerheads for added circulation. $300 OBO.

Also for sale out of this tank are a breeding group of 8 Ptychochromis oligocanthus. I've seen eggs a few times but the Catfish always eat them. $5 apiece or $25 for the whole group.

Another breeding group of 6 or 8 Tilapia bythobates. There's a few definite pairs and again, I've seen eggs a few times but with all the Plecos and other Cats in the tank, I haven't seen any fry. $3 apiece or $20 for the group.

2 regular and 4 albino Senegal Bichirs, including one little stubby female. $10 apiece or $40 for all of them. There's one definite female and the rest I believe are males.

6 or 7 inch Juruense. Nice whiskers and eats like crazy. $45.

Two Sailfin Plecos. One Albino about 15" $30. And one regular about 7" $15.

Three Hoplo Cats ranging from about 4" to about 6". $15 for the trio.

Two 5" Spotted Pims $5 each or $8 for both of them.

I've also got two standard 55 gallon aquariums that need to go. One has two 4ft light strips with two 20 watt flourescents in each and glass versa tops. Filters are two Jebo powerheads. I forget the liter to gallon conversion but they're rated at 1100LPH. And the stand is a 75 gallon (48"X18") stained pine stand.
The other tank has two single 15 watt flourescent light strips with black plastic lids. The filters are a Whisper 4 and an Aquatec 30/60. And the stand is a home made wooden cabinet. $100 for each setup or $150 for both.

The fish out of these tanks that are for sale are
A 5" Hippo Tang $60
3" Pixie Hawkfish $8
And a little Melas Damsel, a Condy Anemone, a Brittle Star, and a big Chocolate Chip Star you can have for free if you take the other fish.

Also a breeding pair of Blue Acaras I will not separate for $25
A single Blue Acara for $8
Two 4" Blue Pearl Flowerhorns $20 each
A 7" male Green Severum $25
A 9" Albino Hemibagrus nemerus (False Asian Redtail or Asian Flathead Catfish) $35

If you buy any aquariums or fish you can have all the well cured live sand, live rock, and/or Java Moss you want.

This guy's not a Flowerhorn but he's definitely a masterpiece in his own right compared to the average Sunfish. We were at Cabelas the other day and of course the kids had to walk through the aquarium. When I spotted this enormous dinner plate sized Bluegill I had to snap a couple of pics with my cell phone. I figured you guys would appreciate this one.

This has become my favorite tank. I find myself sitting here watching all the little creepy crawlies for hours when I should be doing other stuff.

Two of the vertebrate inhabitants. A Spiny Headed Hill Stream Loach and an Albino Bristlenose Pleco. I love these little loaches. Unlike most Hillstreams these guys don't seem to need the super high O2 content and fast running water to survive. There's two in here and they're fat and happy. My daughter calls them Carpet Plecos because they're flat and look like they've got little fringes all along their edges.

This little mutant is a 2" long Giant Black Malaysian Trumpet Snail. He reminds me of those worm things from Tremors. After I took these pics I noticed he's got company under there. He's busy making babies with another one I forgot was in there. They're hermaphrodites and livebearers so I'll have tons of them in no time. That is sooooo a face only a Mother could love.

This is my favorite Purple Light Foot Mystery Snail. She's not the prettiest but she's always doing something.

One of the color morphs of the European Ramshorns. This one's a pink. They grow incredibly fast and multiply like bunnies. So there's always plenty of them around and the extras make wonderful Cichlid snacks.

Another color morph of European Ramshorn. This one's my older daughter's favorite color. Robin's egg blue with a purple body.

A Gold Light Foot Mystery Snail. This one's always cruising around too.

One of my new additions. Ansolene spixis. It's a type of Apple Snail that only grows to about an inch. They've got neat peppermint stripes on their shells. Mine like to stay buried in the sand though apparently.

Another one. But again you can't really see the peppermint stripes because he's covered in algae. I got this guy cheap because of the algae on his shell. For show he's not too nice but he's great for breeding.

There's thirty five Red Cherry Shrimp and about five or six Yellow Shrimp in there. They're hard to photograph though because most are still babies. This is the biggest momma Red Cherry.

I've been keeping fish for over twenty years now and have been around them for nearly thirty. I had a reminder the beginning of this week that no matter how much you know you never know enough. And just because you know a whole lot about something doesn't put you above making mistakes.

I have silica sand, which is an excellent Ph buffer, in most of my aquariums. My Ph in all of my aquariums is always around neutral to slightly alkaline, temp's fine, haven't had any Ammonia in decades, basically everything's running smoothly so I never even bother testing my water for anything. Recently I had to move my baby Flowerhorns out of their aquarium and into my one 55 gallon. This tank also happens to be the only aquarium I have that is bare bottom. Anyway, I noticed on Tuesday that my previously perky little Flowerhorns were just sort of hanging in the corner of their new tank looking miserable. I figured they were just adjusting and they'd be fine. Next day, they're now hiding up behind the overhang of the power filter looking more miserable than ever and won't even come out to eat. The stupid Oscar and Catfish and all the other Cichlids on the other side of the divider seem fine so I figure the Flowerhorns will come around and be okay in a few days. Then, just out of curiosity, I decide to test the Ph of this tank. I'd just done a water change on the tank the day before so I figured it couldn't be any water quality issues. It turns out the Ph in that tank was only about 5.5! 115.gif No wonder my poor little Flowerhorns were miserable. I went out and grabbed a bag of crushed coral gravel and dumped it in there and did a 50percent water change to bring the Ph back to neutral. For the past two days now I've been testing the Ph in there and it seems to be stable at around 7.2. Lesson's been learned. The first thing to do at any sign of a problem is TEST YOUR WATER. Even if you're perfect you can still screw up. jumbo-avatar (7).gif

These are the first two Flowerhorns I've kept since I gave away my Golden Leopard nearly two years ago. They're Blue Pearl Flowerhorns from a friend of mine on AquaBid. I asked her to try and send me two males but it seems the smaller one is actually a female. They're currently living in a divided off section of my one 55 gallon until the Tilapias are out of their 45 gallon. The tank's a little cloudy at the moment because I just added a bag of crushed coral gravel yesterday. Here's Dude and Baby Girl.
